CANASTA - 12/16: Holiday tunes @ Sub-T + 12/30: TAG Benefit @ Beat Kitchen
(sent on 2004-12-10)
Hey Canasta fans,
If you didn't catch us the other night, we've got two more shows before the year is up! The first is next Thursday, Dec. 16, at Subterranean, as part of the 4th Annual WLUW Holiday Sing-Along. The benefit for Loyola University's fantastic radio station will feature six bands, each of whom will do a few of their favorite holiday tunes. That means new covers for us, yeah! Also appearing will be The Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, The Lesser Birds of Paradise, Clyde Federal, Tijuana Hercules, and The Astronomer (featuring Charles Kim).
Then, on Thursday, Dec. 30, we'll be back at Beat Kitchen playing a benefit for the Tangerine Arts Group. Most people will have the next day off work, so it ought to be a fun, freewheelin' night. We'll actually be playing three short sets throughout the show and we've filled the rest of the time with four of our favorite local singer-songwriters: Zapruder Point, Eric Ziegenhagen, Daniel Knox and Annie Higgins. If you already know those folks, good... you should! If not, you're missing out on some of the finest songwriting you're likely to encounter in Chicago.
Anyway, best wishes and hope to see you around!
