CANASTA: THIS TUESDAY (9/20) @ Beat Kitchen + 3rd Annual Music Mixer
(sent on 2005-09-19)
Hello everyone,
We realize this is totally short notice, but we literally just got offered a show for tomorrow night (Tuesday, Sept. 20), so we wanted you all to know about it. It's at the Beat Kitchen, and it's with The Kingsbury Manx, an elegantly dusty indie-pop band whom some of us had the good fortune of seeing in New York last year. So if you're looking for something to do, come on out. We'll be going on stage at around 9:30 PM. Even better, it's an 18 and over show, and only $6. Cheap!
In other news … For the last three years, the non-profit organization Rock for Kids has commissioned mix CDs from mostly local musicians and industry figures. The CDs are then auctioned off at a party, with the proceeds going to music-education programs for underprivileged children. We liked the idea, so for this year's event, Colin made an awesome mix to represent Canasta. If you'd like to bid on his CD, or dozens of others (including ones by Ben Gibbard, Jon Langford, and Johnny Marr), the Third Annual Music Mixer is on this Thursday, Sept. 22, at SmartBar, from 6 to 10 PM.
And lastly, don't forget our other upcoming shows: first at The Annex in Madison with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (Sept. 25), and then at Simon's Tavern in Chicago (Oct. 2)!
See you soon!
