CANASTA - 3 LOCAL SHOWS + THE CD RELEASE DATE!

Hi everyone…

We've got three shows coming up in the next week… and each one of them is odd in its own special way. First and foremost, this Sunday, October 2, we'll be playing two "stripped-down", 60-min. sets at Simon's Tavern in Andersonville. We'll be playing at 9 PM and then again at 10:30 PM and over the course of the two hours, you can expect to hear all (and we do mean *all*) of your favorite Canasta tunes. And don't forget - the show is totally FREE!

Then on Wednesday, October 5, we're performing in the The Randolph Café at the The Chicago Cultural Center for the return of Thomas Dunning's Hoot Night. This time, the theme is "Food" and it's part of the Chicago Office of Tourism's "Stirring Things Up in Chicago" Campaign. That, too, is a free show and we'll be joined by some of the usual Hoot suspects, including Kelly Hogan, Nora O'Connor, Deanna Varagona (of Lambchop), Dag Juhlin (of Poi Dog Pondering), Eric Ziegenhagen and Zapruder Point, most of whom will be playing just a song or two within the theme. The show begins at 7 PM and we expect to play just before the program ends at about 7:45.

Third, Canasta will be among the entertainment at this year's LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon. That's next Sunday, October 9, and we'll be putting on a marathon performance of our own, as they've asked us to play on and off for SIX(!) hours at Milemarker 25.2 (18th and Michigan). We'll be there hanging out and rocking from about 9:20 AM to 2:30 PM, so come keep us company as our patented brand of majestic chamber pop inspires runners to create new world records.

And finally, we're happy to announce the date of our "CD Release Show" for We Were Set Up! It's going to take place on Friday, November 18 at Subterranean. The remaining details are still being worked out, but we'll have plenty of special guests on hand to make it the most memorable Canasta show yet. So stay tuned for more on that!
