CANASTA - CD Release: FRIDAY, 11/18 @ SUB-T + New Reviews!
(sent on 2005-10-26)
Hey everyone,
If you haven't already heard, the official Canasta CD release show has been set for Friday, November 18, at Subterranean! It's your first opportunity to get a copy of our new 13-track record, We Were Set Up, which has already started to generate some local buzz from websites like songs:illinois, which claims that we're "on the cusp of national acclaim… believe the hype." Whoa! We'll be joined on stage by some special guest musicians (including the lovely Edith Frost and ravishing Ted Cho, among others), and two fantastic bands will open: Headlights (on Polyvinyl) and Palaxy Tracks (featuring Brandon Durham, who also did the artwork and design for We Were Set Up). We can't wait to share our music with you, so we hope to see you all there to celebrate!
Also, the first full-length review of the record is in. While Alice Merchant may have chosen some odd frames of reference for our sound (ska?!), her Badger Herald review comes on the heels of our sold out Madison show with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and is definitely an enthusiastic endorsement. It describes the album as "nothing less than blissful" and says that although we "aren't trying to change the world… a revolution just might ensue." Special shout-out to all our new fans in Madison!
Speaking of which, all fans outside Chicago can order We Were Set Up from our website right now: http://www.canastamusic.com/store!
And if you're still not convinced, check out some tracks from the album here: http://www.canastamusic.com/audio.
See you soon!
