Canasta: Upcoming Shows + iTunes

Hey Canasta fans,

Thanks to everyone who made it out to our weekly Practice Space residency at Schubas in April! We had a fantastic time hanging out at the venue and playing for such nice crowds.

After a few weeks off, we’re about ready to get back on stage, so we have a couple shows we’d like to announce. The first is on Thursday, June 8, at Subterranean, with garage-pop band The Living Blue (Minty Fresh), singer-songwriter Brad Peterson, and a surprise special guest. The show is being presented by Immediate Media, as part of its new “Random Act” showcase series, and promises to be lots of fun.

We’ll also be making an appearance on Sunday, June 11, at Ribfest Chicago, on Lincoln Avenue just north of Irving Park Road. Summer street festivals are always a good time, so come by around 3 PM to chow down and catch some music in the open air. The show’s all ages, and it’ll only cost you a $5 donation to walk around. Other bands on the bill that day include The M’s, Manishevitz, Catfish Haven, and Paper Airplane Pilots (plus more).

In case you can’t make either of those shows and simply can’t wait to see us again, there are a couple of other odd dates as well. On Friday, May 26, we’ll be providing entertainment at the Gapers Block 3rd Anniversary Party at the Hideout, and on Saturday, June 10, we’ll be the musical guest for the Late Night Late Show at i.O. (formerly ImprovOlympic). But since we’re not the focus of the evening for either of these shows, we don’t have too many details about them yet.
