CANASTA - TUE. 11/28 @ THE NOTE w/ BOUND STEMS + BLOG LOVE
(sent on 2006-11-14)
Hi folks,
A couple of items of note regarding your favorite indie-pop sextet:
- Our next show will be on Tuesday, November 28, at The Note. It's our first time playing at the Wicker Park venue, which supposedly has a brand-new sound-system, and we'll be accompanied on stage by two very cool bands. Local pop act Bound Stems have been getting a lot of well-deserved hype lately for their cheerfully rollicking sound, and their NYC tourmates Rahim blend jittery post-punk with lilting melodies. Plus, you can shake off those post-Turkey Day blues with some mid-week rock, right? We may even debut a new song (shhhh!).
- We've been getting some attention lately from those "blogs" the kids are always talking about. Among the several mentions in the last few weeks, Obscure Sound calls We Were Set Up "enjoyably complex" and "impressive on all levels? one of the best full-length debuts of the year." And Ryan from Muzzle of Bees says, "This may be the best pop album I've listened to all year!" If you or someone you know has a blog that would like to review Canasta, let us know. We totally crave the attention. :)
Take care and see you soon,
Your pals in Canasta
