CANASTA - FREE TIX: NEXT FRI. (12/8) @ METRO w/ THE DEARS!

(sent on 2006-11-30)

Friends, Romans, countrymen:

Thanks to those of you who showed up to the Note the other night. We had a pretty great time, and we hope you did, too.

If you didn't make it out, you won't have to wait long for the next Canasta show. We just found out that we're playing an 18-and-over date at Metro next Friday, December 8, with The Dears, who hail from Montreal and make dark, moody pop that's garnered plenty of attention stateside. We don't know a whole lot about Young Galaxy, who's opening the bill, except, like the Dears, they're on the Arts & Crafts label, which has brought you Broken Social Scene, Stars, and Hidden Cameras—so we're willing to bet they're awesome, too.

Best part of this news, though: The show is normally $16, but we've got a limited number of tickets to give away for absolutely FREE. We're always psyched to play Metro, and never more so than when we've got a huge crowd of fans in the audience, so we are hoping to get these tickets in as many people's hands as possible. If you know one of us personally and plan to see us before the show, you can simply ask for a ticket. (We'll try to keep 'em on us at all times.) Otherwise, reply to this e-mail to let us know you're interested, and we'll figure out a method of delivery—we can mail it to you, meet you somewhere, whatever.

Also, right after the Metro show, we're going to embark on a flurry of tour dates around the Midwest. Right now we've got shows booked in Indianapolis on Saturday, December 9 (at Radio Radio), and Iowa City on Tuesday, December 12 (at The Picador)—but we'll be adding more soon, so check our website often to see if we're coming to your town, and for more details: http://www.canastamusic.com/shows.

See you soon!
