CANASTA: Headlining Benefit @ D. Door Next Fri. 8/10
(sent on 2007-07-31)
Hey there,
We wanted to tell you a little more about the Canasta show at the Double Door next Friday, August 10, since we have a few more details than when we last said hello. First of all, the show was originally scheduled as a benefit for WLUW, but in light of recent developments, it's now going to benefit the Chicago Independent Radio Project, a new non-profit organization started by WLUW program director Shawn Campbell with the goal of launching a new low-power station in the area. Any form of independent radio is a boon for local bands like us, so we're hoping you will support the cause.
Second, we're going to be headlining the show, which will also feature Chicago bands Plane, May or May Not, and Driftless Pony Club. That means a long-ish set, including **two brand-new, never-before-heard songs** that we think you'll dig (especially you trombone fans out there). I have to say, we're pretty excited about the whole thing. We've even enlisted a fan to project a couple of short films behind us through some of the set, which we've never done before. So it should be a memorable experience, and all for just $10.
See you next week!
