CANASTA - Free Reckless In-Store This Sun. + Madison Tonight + More Shows, Press

Onward Canasta soldiers...

A MILLION THANKS!
We can't thank you all enough for showing up in such force to the Schubas shows this past weekend! We saw practically everyone we know and love in the audience and as a result, played two of the best sets of our lives. We stormed through 15 songs per show and played 20 different tunes throughout the night (with no less than three horns in tow!) Both gigs were packed and the late one completely sold out. And of course now, 450 of our closest friends finally own a copy of the new album, which is what all of this has been leading up to. So thank you!

SHOWS, SHOWS, SHOWS: THIS WEEKEND AND ON INTO JUNE...
Tonight, we're in Madison at The Frequency with our heroes, Clem Snide. We've been looking forward to this one since the day we formed. Then on Sunday (5/16), we're back in Chicago for a free in-store performance at Reckless Records' newest location (3126 N. Broadway) at 5pm. The new CD doesn't become available until Tuesday, but we'll be selling it at these gigs, so come on out (details below). Otherwise, you'll have to wait until June to see us, when we play the always-rowdy "Andersonville Midsommarfest" (Sun. 6/13), then make our debut at the gorgeous Lincoln Hall (Wed. 6/23) with Mucca Pazza, Chicago's very own punk-rock marching band. But those are a month away, so if you wanna get the disc as soon as possible, either show up this weekend or order your copy here and we'll send it to you post haste! Or, if you're still not convinced that your music collection would be the better for it, here's your argument...

#1 ON CHIRP! + MORE TERRIFIC PRESS!
This past week was huge for the 'nasta. Thanks to your requests, The Fakeout spent it perched at #1 on CHIRP Radio's CMJ chart, besting such indie stalwarts as The New Pornographers and Caribou. Not bad, huh? Furthermore, the record release graced the front of the Onion A.V. Club as well as the top of The Reader's list of recommended things to do this past weekend. On top of that, the album / shows have also continued to reap glowing reviews from the likes of Familiarize Yourself ("I was excited for the show but I wasn’t expecting just how great it turned out to be"), HEAVE Media ("comes on slowly and leaves you picking up your jaw in amazement") and Chi-Town Notes ("If you missed the Saturday night shows, you definitely missed out on a special experience"), who also gabbed about us in their podcast (at both the 20 and 80-min. marks). Or, to hear things in our own words, check out True/Slant's lengthy interview with Matt and Elizabeth. OK, I think that's enough reading assignments for one week...
