(sent on 2010-05-26)
Boy howdy!
THE FAKEOUT... IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD ON ITUNES + AMAZON!
If you're the sort of person who prefers to get his/her music fix via ones and zeroes, we're
proud to announce that The Fakeout, the Tease and the Breather is now available for download
at both iTunes and
Amazon. But if you'd like to get your hands on the CD itself, then
come see us at an upcoming show or order one from us here.
Either way, if you haven't actually heard it yet, you're officially out of excuses!
TONIGHT: LIVE ON WTTW CHANNEL 11'S "CHICAGO TONIGHT" (BETWEEN 7:30 & 8 PM)
Later tonight, Canasta will be doing an interview and a couple
live songs on "Chicago Tonight". You can
catch it on WTTW, Channel 11 (the show starts at 7 and we
should be on sometime between 7:30 and 8). The only catch is that they've asked us to
"strip down" our performance, so we'll be playing with no drums, no bass and a few less
vocal mics. Should be interesting! We're big fans of both the show and its host, Phil Ponce,
so we've been waiting a long time for this. Tune in and rock out with us, won't you?
LYRICS TO THE FAKEOUT... ARE NOW ONLINE
Floods and jailbreaks? Snowball fights and foreign cities? Headphones and microwaves?
Deathbeds and airport hangars? Ever wonder what the heck Priest is going on about in these new
tunes? Well, most of us in the band have been equally confused. Thankfully, we can now check out
the lyrics to the new songs, along with all the oldies, over at
http://www.canastamusic.com/lyrics.
Let us know what you think!
SUMMER SHOWS!
We mentioned these breifly already and we'll have more info soon, but for now,
all you need to know is that on Sun. 6/13, we'll be gracing the stage at the always-rowdy
"Andersonville Midsommarfest"
(at Clark and Foster) and then on Wed. 6/23, making our debut at the gorgeous, new
Lincoln Hall
with Mucca Pazza, Chicago's very own punk-rock
marching band. One's outside and early (1:30 PM), while the other's indoors and late (9 PM),
so we expect to see you at both! Stay tuned for more info on these shows, as well as other
sweet stuff we've got planned for Chicago this Summer...
THE GREAT PRESS CONTINUES...
It's so nice to see that the word's getting around, huh?
Check out the nice things said about the record over at
Chicagoist
("...it would appear the band spent the bulk of that time refining their sound and perfecting their craft,
resulting in the recent release of the stunning The Fakeout, The Tease And The Breather..."),
IGN
("...the haunting, harmonized hook [of 'IDKWIWGW'] fits perfectly as the ghost of a relationship
on one of the more strikingly gorgeous songs on an album full of them...") and
Chicago Now
("...pleasant on the surface, but not for the faint of hearing, take a minute with this
one for maximum enjoyment..."). And finally, Shore Magazine just ran their first-ever
local music issue and featured one
artist each from a number of genres. Canasta is your proud representative from the world of
"indie pop." Aww, shucks... See you at the shows!
