CANASTA - Headlining Old Town School (Sat. 2/26) + Feb. Tour (IA, MO, MI & OH) + Polls Closing!

(sent on 2011-01-28)

Ahoy! Three things...

TOURING IN FEBRUARY (IA, MO, MI & OH) +
HEADLINING THE OLD TOWN SCHOOL OF FOLK MUSIC (SAT. 2/26)
Perhaps it goes without saying, but we are absolutely over the moon about finally headlining The Old Town School of Folk Music. We've been trying to set this up for years! It is THE best-sounding room in Chicago and it's one of just a few fully seated venues in town as well. In order to making the night even more special, both openers will be releasing new records, including our good friends and labelmates, REGO, as well as Sewing Pattern, the musical alter ego of Canasta's own Angie Ma! This'll be our first show in 2.5 months (!), so it's a good idea to get tickets in advance (either online here or from us, personally, to skip any fees). We're also stoked about these tourdates, because in many cases, they're cities we've never visited before. But without history in places like Davenport, Kansas City and Grand Rapids, that means we could really use your help getting the word out! And of course, our upcoming Daytrotter Session is a big deal too, so we'll let you know when that gets posted for listening. Anyway, on to the meat of the matter. Click here for more specific details on the following shows...

Thur. 2/3 @ Daytrotter Studio (Rock Island, IL) (Closed to the public)
Fri. 2/4 @ The Mill (Iowa City, IA)

THE DELI'S "BEST OF CHICAGO EMERGING ARTISTS" POLL CLOSES TONIGHT...
WE'VE GOT A NARROW LEAD, SO PLEASE VOTE, IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY!

As we mentioned the other day, Canasta has been nominated for The Deli's prestigious "Best of Chicago Emerging Artists 2010 Poll." And thanks to all of you, we're currently in first place with 1,070 votes! But the poll closes at midnight tonight and it's clear that the 2nd place band hasn't given up yet, so we've got to keep at it. If you haven't already voted, please do so quickly. And if your love for Canasta truly runs deep, then please consider forwarding the poll onto your friends and family! Unlike some sites that require an e-mail sign-up and whatnot, this is literally a one-click affair...
