CANASTA: Daytrotter + 10th Anniversary @ Schubas Tomorrow Night (Sat. 6/2)!

Let’s go to the phones!
OUR DAYTROTTER SESSION FINALLY POSTS //
WE TURN TEN TOMORROW NIGHT, SAT. 6/2 @ SCHUBAS!!!
Hip-makers Daytrotter finally posted the session we recorded for them awhile back and
we’re ecstatic to be able to
share it with you!
Along with some Canasta classics, it also marks the first studio recording of our Chicago cover:
“25 or 6 to 4.” If you've got 30 min.,
you ought to check it out; it’s got decidedly grungy,
“indie rock” production, which is awfully interesting to hear in a Canasta context.
But, of course, the biggest news in Canastaland this weekend is our tenth anniversary show, happening
tomorrow night, Sat. 6/2, at Schubas! Opening the show at 9pm will be
Wooden Rings, who are also releasing their gorgeous, debut album.
We will also be joined by eight guest musicians, including ex-members, horn-players and rockers-about-town.
Tickets are just $12 and we’re expecting a full house, so unless you’re the gambling type
(not that there’s anything wrong with that),
we recommend snagging your tickets online in advance.
In the meantime, while counting the hours until our set, you might want to read the excellent, in-depth piece on
the band’s history and trip to Mongolia featured in today’s Sun-Times (the article is
here
and our photo graces the cover of the “Weekend” section
here)!
And for more on this weekend’s big shoo, check out
WBEZ’s “848,”
the ChicagoVerseUniteD podcast,
Illinois Entertainer and
Nortwest Indiana Times.
Once more, here’s Phineas X. Jones' killer, screenprinted
poster for the show (which we’ll be selling in very limited numbers tomorrow night)…
